Smart Roofing Works
Avoid at all costs. Had an opinion for damp in master bedroom in 2017 and they quoted an expensive job (around £2000), which made me panic and think it was a serious problem. They told me there was a leak so I thought I should get it fixed asap with winter and Christmas coming up. Scaffold went up and they were at the property for 2 days max. Scaffold stayed up for weeks. Job made no difference to said “leak”, then later I was told it was condensation after all. I was furious as this was never even suggested to me beforehand. Disputed, but I was never given any compensation. They offered installing some “vents” in the roof space to aid ventilation (said worth £240, but took no more than 5 minutes to put in and cheap plastic material so couldn’t have been more than £50). Too stressful to take to small claims court as they changed their story when asked for a statement. Condensation worse since as they put eaves trays in to make it more airtight so ventilation is poorer. Dishonest and complete waste of money.

York Mumbler - York with Kids
Went to a York Mumbler brunch at Impossible Bar York. Well organised and in a nice location. £10 for cooked vegetarian breakfast. Lots of people on hand to look after your baby while you eat. Things that would have made it better - the waitress asked if I wanted a drink, I ordered a decaf oatmilk late and didn't realise that the free coffee was already out so this wouldn't be free so paid an extra £4.60 for coffee. The waitress could have told me this. Perhaps an icebreaking activity might have been nice as I can be a bit shy. Overall was a good experience but I went with a friend, if I was on my own I might have found it more difficult to strike up a conversation.

Care Direct
I have been in Exeter since the end of July and been given no support whatsoever from Exeter Care services. This should have been relatively easy as I have a disability and I am in receipt of direct payments to manage my own care.I came here hoping for respite after having arrived in North Devon a year earlier and having become very unwell there. Not least because I had my care budget cut by a third, though my care needs had increased and because my condition was not understood by the assessor. Many people in my position feel under attack as benefits as care budgets come under threat. These reductions are administered by the very people we used to think we could depend upon to support us. Under qualified Care Managers" are who now come to assess our care needs. This used to be Social Workers. Many decent and competent social workers have left the service now because they felt unable to sustain being pen pushers that were only employed simply as people qualified to to reduce budgets. Those left to soldier on often feeling under siege themselves and powerless where once they could make a difference. The irony of all of this

Hadley Marquees UK Ltd
The marquee we had at our wedding was fantastic. Elliot Ward had been a star during the planning. He was extremely great to work with. He did everything he could to get what I wanted. The team arrived on time to setup the marquee and the guys were ever so friendly! I highly recommend Hadley Marquees!
